KEITER STEPHENS Leveraging Partnerships for Success
In 1984, a group of 5 young entrepreneurs and business partners found themselves in need of a larger space to better serve their growing accounting firm, Keiter Stephens Hurst Gary & Shreaves. According to Carroll Hurst, one of the original 5 partners, “The decision to move our office from downtown Richmond to Innsbrook only took 2 days. The partners all agreed that Innsbrook was in a prime location and would be a fulcrum for future growth.” To turn their vision of growth into a reality, they needed a partner. They approached a client, Covington Travel, who was also looking for a new office space to accommodate their growing business. Covington was on board with the idea and a partnership was forged.
“We attribute much of our Firm’s growth to our decision to move to Innsbrook. Through our experience with partnerships, purchasing, financing, and developing our own building, we were able to cultivate a very successful real estate and development niche practice.” said Hurst.
In addition, the many activities and events offered in Innsbrook helped to strengthen the Firm’s client, partnership, and staff relationships through the years. One of the Firm’s favorite ways to interact with their clients and friends was to attend the Innsbrook Concert Series. “About 15 years ago, the Innsbrook Concert series was held in an undeveloped site by the Hyatt. The concerts were a perfect venue for entertaining clients and friends. Everyone always had a good time and it was a convenient walk from our office.” Hurst recalls.
Today, 25 years later, Keiter Stephens still shares its 4401 Dominion Boulevard location with their client and partner, Covington Travel. Keiter Stephens has grown to 19 partners and over 100 staff and is the 12th largest CPA firm in Virginia. The Firm is looking forward to many more years of continued growth thanks in part to their ideal location in Innsbrook. |
