Capital One expands Call Center and Operations Center in Innsbrook,
Buys 2 Buildings ($17 mil.) next to 3-Building Knolls Campus
Capital One Financial Corp., one of Richmond's largest employers with 7,000 employees, is expanding its three-building Knolls Campus in Innsbrook with the $17 mil. purchase of two more buildings next to its Knolls I, II and III buildings.
The buildings, Innsbrook Center I and Innsbrook Center II on Wheat First Drive, were formerly occupied by Wachovia Securities which relocated to St. Louis. These buildings are currently being "retrofitted," according to Capital One spokeswoman Julie Rakes and will open in the Fall 2011.
Capital One would not provide exact numbers as to the employee count that would occupy the two new buildings. She did state that Capital One is investing in remodeling its three current buildings in Innsbrook, Knolls I, II and III which house the Call Center and Operations.
While exact numbers were not given as to how many employees would be moving into the two new buildings when they open in the Fall 2011, an estimated 700 - 750 employees has been suggested by real estate insiders. Capital One would not state if these would be new employees or relocated employees.
Capital One employees in Innsbrook currently number 2,000, Rakes said. "Renovations on the three-building Knolls campus in Innsbrook started this past spring," Rakes said, "and are expected to be completed in about 18-24 months. The remodeling features open floor plans to create a lighter and more open work space, and new workstations and chairs that allow for ultimate customization, according to Rakes.
The renovations will also offer improved training facilities and upgraded dining facilities. “Capital One's partnership with Innsbrook has accommodated our needs and growth for the past 13 years,” said Dan Mortensen, SVP Capital One Corporate Real Estate. “We enjoy the great sense of community the business park provides, along with an attractive, convenient location and many amenities for our associates.”
